My purple cords with jelly shoes I wore on the first day of ninth grade. My hair style in 12th grade year book. What was I thinking?
10. Have you/are you living outside of Toronto? If so, where? And what brought you there?
I am presently living in Columbus, Ohio. My husband, Mike and I, got our greencards when Mike was offered a job with Sabre in Dallas, Tx. We lived there for 7 years and loved it. 2 years ago he left Sabre to go and run a start up company in California. We lived in Manhattan Beach for just over a year. Mike decided to take a year off and we travelled across the US in an RV for 6 weeks. We also spent a lot of time in Italy this year. After a year off, Mike was offered a position here in Columbus, Ohio. We have been here 1 week now.
11. Who are you hoping to reconnect with? Classmates you are hoping to find in 2010?
The people that are most important to me, I talk to every now and then. Seeing some old faces would be great though. How about Kathy Lawson?
12. What are you doing these days?
These days I am being a wonderful wife. I left my airline job after 16 years when we moved down to Dallas. In Dallas, I worked as a special ed teacher for 3 years. I was the 2005 paraprofessional of the year for my district. In California, I spent my days on the beach. Not sure what I will do in Columbus..tennis and hot yoga for sure. I will probably volunteer somewhere as well.
13. Anything new and exciting to share?
My husband and I bought some land in San Remo,Italy. It has 28 olive trees and lots of fruit trees. We will spend every year in November picking olives and making our own olive oil. This November ,we plan on buying the house that is close to the land and rebuild it. That's a 4 year project. It will be our vacation home and soon to be retirement home.
14. Anything dull and boring? Anything mediocre to share?
I tutored french to high school kids in Texas. Believe it or not, I was in high demand. So much so, I had to turn students away. So if anyone is looking for a job tutoring french there is an opening in Southlake, Tx.(And the parents will pay anything)
15. Are you where you thought you'd be at this point in time?
Yes and No. I would have hoped for children by this time. But the old eggs just weren't working.(We started thinking about children a little too late in our lives). However, a life with my husband and my great dane (our third one) is just as wonderful. I also have 2 beautiful nieces who love their Auntie Tata very much.
16. How many checkmarks do you have on your Bucket List?
I think quite a few... US citizenship is next.
17. In ten years time, what will you be doing?
Living 1/2 the year in Canada/US and the other 1/2 in our house in the Italian Riviera. Hopefully still playing tennis and doing yoga
18. Any regrets?
Not finishing University, but my airline job allowed me to travel tons, and when I left I got unlimited passes for life. And how could I forget, if I hadn't gone to the airlines I never would have met my husband (oops! he was my boss).
Hey Renata, sounds like you have done really well for yourself and are enjoying life. That's the important thing. I hope to see you at the reunion and catch up. Maria Brunato
